Follow these steps.----------Find the part # for a 2 cylinder 48 hp motor like yours.-------Order that part # , the gasket and 2 screws.---------Find the spot on the port side of your block to mount that pump.-------Remove the plug between the 2 screw holes.------Mount the pump with the gasket.----------Plug the pulse port for the VRO pump.----------Re-arrange some hoses.

Disable the oil part of the VRO: unplug the electrical connection. Cap off the oil lines.

40:1 to 50:1 oil mix. (look that up... If guessing, too much is better than not enough.)

VRO pump is the fuel pump in my Johnson 150 GT with oil injection disabled. I run 50:1 but as engines get smaller they need more. I have a very small 2-stroke that needs 20:1.

why are you disconnecting it has it failed. your engine will run 50:1 smaller outboards do not need more oil.

I would check your lines for broken clamps or any kind of air leak first. high oil consumption on vro can sometimes be a fuel or air leak the pump will compensate and put more oil in the line just a thought.
