VRO Pump Swap OK?

For troubleshooting purposes I would like to swap out my 1994 VRO pump for a 90-92 VRO pump on my 1994 200hp ocean pro. Would this be OK? My research showed the earlier VRO had a higher oil rate at idle.

The "VRO" was redesigned internally in 1992, so a pump from the SAME horsepower motor would be the same for a 1994 model, as long as they both had 4 wires coming out of the oil warning module.<br /><br />Earlier pumps had different internal parts and warning system wiring.<br /><br /><br />Go to the FAQ section and read up on the VRO pump and its history.

Both VRO's i have are 3 wire. I believe they went to 4 wire in 1996. I have read up on the VRO and just want a 2nd opinion that the earlier pump will work.
