Can someone please tell me what the failure mode is on a VRO pump for a 1994 Johnson 150 Faststrike? Does it just quit or is it intermittent? My no oil warning goes off and then sometimes when I restart the motor, I can run a long time before I get the warning horn again. Any help will be appreciated.

You need to take the time to look at your oil tank / hoses / filter in the oil tank etc.---Failure to do so can be expensive.---Also the VRO pump is elegantly simple to take apart / inspect and repair.-------Might be as simple as replacing a wee o-ring on the piston that pumps the oil !!

Thanks, Racer. For now, I put in oil so my tank is now 50:1. I took the filter out of the oil tank and it is not dirty at all. The hose looks good and do not appear to be leaking air. I am now suspecting the pump. I guess I will have to trouble shoot it whe I get home from this fishing trip. If the pump is bad, I will probably just eliminate the VRO system and mix my oil. Thanks again for your response.
