I have fuel leaking at the top of the VRO pump. 88 Johnson J40ELCCS on the Lund I just bought. There is a 1/2" dia round black tab that bubbles/fuel leak out of. Pumps are $350. It idles ok but dies when I put it in gear. Seems to lose pressure at the bulb. Should I disconnect the VRO and go to premix. Does the VRO then become the fuel pump? If so, will I still have the leak. Did a search and it seems to be to best thing is to get rid of the VRO. Also a little fuel spitting out of the top carb. Maybe bowl is full and inlets are clogged? Thanks in advance.

Re: VRO Problem

You can't have a fuel pump, and VRO both. What part are you thinking about to stop that leak. To stop that leak, you would have to disconnect the fuel line. That can't be done of course.

Re: VRO Problem

we are going to try to put a rubber seal in where the oil would be injected in, without have a diagram in front of me i do not know the exact part of the pump, that way only fuel would be sucked through it, do not know if it will work.
