VRO/OMS pump compatibility question

Before I visited this forum, I'd never heard of an OMS pump, and had ordered a "4-wire VRO pump" from an online dealer, which was supposed to be for my motor. During a lengthy related thread, I've learned that I should have an OMS pump, P/N 5004558. The pump kit I ordered was P/N 5007420.

After a week, the pump was delivered this afternoon. It includes a bag of various fittings for different applications, and the pump with a sticker on it indicating that it is P/N 5004554.

My motor is a 2001 Johnson 150, model # RJ150VXSIF.

Does anyone know whether or not this pump is compatible with my motor?
The exterior appearance is identical.

Re: VRO/OMS pump compatibility question

Thank you, tashasdaddy. In the meantime, I found another online dealer who sells this part. Their catalog indicates that P/N 5004558 has been replaced by P/N 5007420.

This VRO/OMS terminology thing has really thrown me a curve. P/N 5007420 includes a factory BRP instruction sheet that identifies it as a "VRO2 Pump Kit" that "services a VRO2 pump that has the 4-wire warning system". I became concerned, so have written e-mails to the online dealer and BRP for clarification, before I rip into the parts bag and install it. No replies yet.

Your part numbers are correct. The 5007420 has an improved material used in the diaphragms.

Yep, the old instruction sheets still use the old terminology - but that ain't no big thing.

I have a new theory on this P/N 5004554...

5007420 and 5007423 are P/N for "kits". 023 is intended to replace a 3 wire pump and convert it to a 4 wire system. It differs from the 020 "kit" only in the wiring adapter.

The actual pumps are the same. As seen above, OP's "kit", P/N 5004558 (which was superceded by kit P/N 5007420) has a pump with a 5004554 label on it.

I just received a P/N 5007423 "kit". It ALSO has a pump with a 5004554 label on it. It also has a wiring adapter for converting from 3 wire to 4.

It therefore makes sense - the pump itself is P/N 5004554, identical for both kits (5007423 and 5007420), the two kits differing only in the wiring adapter.

I post this just in case it helps some future person avoid confusion when they receive a kit with a pump that has a different nubmer than the kit.
