New motor to me with an obvious leak where the oil line attaches to the motor. My question is - does this suggest that there is likely issues with the fuel pump or as simple as just a loose attachment. Not wanting to start the VRO debate anew I am just trying to trouble shoot to avoid future issues. The leak had obviously been there for a while considering all the residue I had to clean off.

Probably just a loose connection. I would run premix until you verify the VRO is putting the right amount of oil in. Just mark the oil tank level, run the motor enough hours to bring the level down a signifiv-cant amount, the refill the tank to the mark, noting how much oil it took to fill. If you started with a full tank of fuel, then just refill the fuel tank. You will then have the oil and fuel used and can easily calculate the oil/fuel ratio.

Thanks Jim, good advice. I am currently rebuilding the carbs (waiting for the kits) and that should tell me a little as well. Jon
