Hi,<br /><br />I have a 1987 Johnson 40hp. Was thinking of rebuilding the VRO/fuel pump. So I looked up the various parts and kits and ordered what was listed as the appropriate ones. Then I found a pump at a reasonable price on ebay, so I bought that as back up.<br /><br /> The pumps have the part number 174570 imprinted on them. All the parts lists show this as the correct pump for my year and model. <br /><br />Now for the "problem". All the parts lists show the rebuild kit P/N 398514 or 18-7821 as being the kit for this pump.<br /><br />NO WAY POSSIBLE.<br /><br />Nothing in this kit fits anywhere in or on that pump. In fact the pictures for all the kits show parts that don't exist on this pump. <br /><br />I am confuzzled. Can anyone give me a hint?
