VP Fuel/Water Seperator vs WIX Fuel Filter

I've always used a Volvo Penta #3862228 Fuel/Water Seperator on my 2005 Gxi-E. This number crosses to a WIX 33359 which is just labeled as a fuel filter. Is there a difference? They look the same, whats the water seperator part?

I think they are the same. Water sep part is how the filter block is designed.

Ayuh,.... Wix filters are some of the Best there are,...

Napa filters are rebadged Wix filters...

Our fuel filters are water separatin' by design,...

The fuel comes into the filter, 'n the velocity slows, allowin' the water to fall to the bottom of the filter, 'n the gas is pulled off the top of the filter...

By "our filters" do you mean WIX? I assume your saying that the WIX will work the same as the VP?

Nope, not Wix in particular, just the canister type fuel/ water separatin' filters in general...

Our filters, as in the canister type filters, use gravity to remove water....
The filter media is usually a 10 micron sieve, to screen out any solid Crud......

'n, Yes, I'm sayin' a Wix filter will do what a Volvo filter will do, possibly better...

The Volvo filters could well be rebadged Wix filters,...
Donno, though I do know Volvo ain't actually buildin' 'em...
Neither does Merc or anybody else...
