Hi,
I recently asked the marine electrician if he could install a fuel flow meter/sensor on my 5.7 GI VP but he said that as it was EFI there was no meter available that he was aware of. Apparently the problem (as he explained it to me) is that the ECU requests a goop of fuel and pressurises it but the injectors only use a portion and the rest is returned to the tank on a return line so it is impossible to get an accurate reading.
My previous Mercury Optimax outboard was fuel injected and I used the smartcraft link to link it to my Navman where it gave me instant fuel consumption readings so what's the difference between outboard and inboard fuel injection?
I searched and Garmin offer a GFS10 kit (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=11561) but I thought I'd better check before I dive in and buy something I mightn't full understand.
Kind Regards,
David.
