hey, f_inscreenname, sounds like your on the same track as me. i'm new to boating, but have worked with motors for years. i was looking at DELETING the volo tilt system and going hydaulic. i'm pretty sure just getting something "off the shelf" will be expensive if available at all. i'm not afraid of improving and modifying systems as previous posts show. i'm goint to get right on this tilt/trim situation. it would make the volvo 270 system alot nicer. (although at the rate i'm learning about boats, there is only ONE drive out there for me, and its the BMAX or IMCO beefed up MERC BRAVO 1). i'll keep you informed. i'll start researching the issue today.

as always, my best; be safe.

Len Rice MD

Rice; I have done much research on building or jury rigging some sort of trim system for a 270. All my ideas have had some sort of problem with the steering or being able to raise the out drive enough for the trailer when you were done with out having to take things apart.
