Volvo vs Alpha coupler -- zerk fitttings?

In this post, "How and were to grease the coupler"<br /><br /> http://forums.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=016659 <br /><br />it mentions "zerk fittings that are accessed from the engine compartment". I've never heard of zerks on a 1997 Volvo Penta SX-C1. Am I just slow, or is this one of the differences b/t the Volvo and Alpha drives?<br /><br />Thanks!

Volvo doesn't have zirks on the coupler.

Does that shorten the life of the Volvo couplers? In your opintion is one better than the other?<br /><br />Thanks.

drive units must be removed every 100 hours or once a season to grease/service coupler "u"joints gimbal bearing etc also for winter (cold weather storage) also to check engine alignment <br />therefore zerk on coupler is redundant
