Volvo trim pump problems

Hi I have a 2006 Chaparral with a volvo duel prop drive. Every season at least twice our trim pump breaks and we always have to take it a marina to fix it. Is there potentially something we are doing operationally that is causing it or is it a faulty seal of sorts. I would appreciate any input. Thanks

How does it break? Does the motor fall off the pump?

No everything is all attached inside the hatch and outside on the drive.(its an I/O) I've checked the fuses-fine, the solenoids-fine. The best way to describe it (possibly) is that its frozen or something. When I try to get it to move via electronics there is absolutely no response from either switch. The pump and its associated electrical system were replaced at the end of 07's season.
