I need to become a private investigator to figure this out. I've got a 1993 Volvo 430B engine with SP-A1 drive according to my marina boat mechanic. They want over $1000 for two trim cylinders, not including labor charges.

I've tried to locate the exact part number of the cylinder, but it looks like it changed part numbers over the years. Also trying to find a repair kit instead of replacing the entire cylinder.

I detected the fluid leaking from around the cylinder ram... evidence was a major oil stain in the concrete pad.

There's a similar thread encouraging a guy to google BRP part # 985060.

There's also a guy on ebay selling a "repair kit" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volv...796073QQ_trksidZp5197Q2em7QQitemZ300549111904

Not sure if either will provide the solution I need, until I can identify the correct trim cylinder number.

Re: Volvo Trim Cylinders

BRP had kits for the OMC cylinders, which were the same as the early SX drives, but not for the style cylinders you have.
I think I remember reading a post from a few years ago about finding seals, but it was just by looking at seals and measuring and finding ones that fit. Volvo doesn't sell kits or parts as you probably found out.
