Anyone have any tips or tricks to replacing the sending unit on a 2000 Volvo SX drive.
The clip is buried under the water pickup on the inside and it is hard to reach the rubber grommet on the outside without removing the outdrive.

Also, any way to remove the wires from the plug inside the boat without a special removal tool?
Thanks

Yeah, they are tough to get to, buy you have to remove the clip AND reinstall it.
I have changed them without pulling the drive, it's a pain, but it can be done. Just put the drive all the way down and turn to port.
Once you get the clip off, tie a string onto the closed end of the clip so WHEN (not if) you drop it when trying to reinstall it, you can retrieve it. Leave the string on it for the next time.

Thanks Don, I like the string idea.

Any ideas on removing the wires from the plug without using a special tool?
