Volvo SX stripped fill plug

My fill plug (the one on top) is stripped. It looks to me that the top cover will have to be replaced. Will the shims have to be adjusted? Any other way out?<br /><br />richard

i think its 3-m that makes a epoxy that makes new threads.used it on my lawnmower spark plug hole and it worked well.hth.

Do I need to worry about pieces of aluminum that might have fallen from the stripped threads of the fill plug?<br /><br />richard

There are several posts on this problem. The fill plug hole is also used for the lifting eye to screw into when removing the vertical drive. Is that the reason for it being a fairly common problem?<br /><br />Greg
