Ayuh,... For those of Us who've by-passed/ deleted their trim limit switches,+ gauge indicators,....
We experince the same thing on a Merc... Up is Up til the end,...

My old boat with a Cobra drive was like that. One button just up and down.
Nothing marked trailer position or anything.

Re: Volvo SX-M drive trailing position

The SX drives never had trim limit as standard, only the DP-S drives. It would work off the same sender as the gauge sender, only more wiring and the dreaded "Black Box" full of circuits and flashing LED's and calibrations and .............. What a mess those things are.

Why, you want one ??????

ohhh the black box and LED's. nightmares.
most the SX drives had only a single switch and it ran up or down until it cannot.
trust me, you dont want the black box.

My SX-A only has one switch for trim/tilt... to trailer, I just keep pushing it up until the sound changes, then release it.

Might be time for thicker trailer bunks, Or get a lower truck receiver/Trailer Ball set up if you can go a little lower with it safely.

Do you have a swim step mounted to the boat in any way over the drive, Because if you do then maybe someone had to put trim limit spacers in the rams to keep the drive from going all the way up to keep the drive from hitting anything above it, Just a few thoughts with out being able to see you're set up.:)

Re: Volvo SX-M drive trailing position

With my SX trimmed all the way up I have 6"-8" in height from the garboard drain to the lowest point on the drive of the drive. I'd wipe out my keel before the drive could hit the ground.

If it DID hit the ground it'd be the bullet taking a beating. If you are hitting the skeg something is wrong with the trim as it' not coming up enough.

No Extra button like on Merc's to get you there. Just keep trimming up until you hear the noise change.

Safe thing with the Merc's is that when you want to ONLY trim all the way up, you don't have to be too careful about over trimming outta da water.

Good luck and happy boating!
