Volvo SX Gimble breaing Removal

Ok, Is there any special way to remove this after I pull the drive, and how do you set in the new bearing? Do I really need to spend the $270 for a new "specialized" slide hammer?

Also, what else should be done during this maintenance?

I use a regular 10# slide hammer. Installing the bearing you need to hammer it in square and on the outer carrier only to install it. Then align the bearing to the coupler and check the engine alignment. Why are you replacing the bearing?

Don, you can hear it "growl" and knock when you adjust the trim and when you turn the sterndrive. Im also thinking that the U-joints might be worn as well.
