My father and I were putting the boat up for the winter today (1997 Glastron, 5.7 GS PLKD 250hp, Volvo SX-C). This is the first time we winterized this boat (new to us this year) and I ran into two things that I wanted some help with. First, the outdrive. Volvo book says to put the outdrive into the up-most position and pull the upper plug to let the water drain. Got the plug out (it was tight due to some corrosion) and found a solid block of gunk behind the plug. My question for this one is, how do I clear the passage? O-ring pick only clears so much. Compressed air applied to the opening does nothing. Any thoughts?
Secondly, as I was going through the motions of draining water from the block, I went to drain the manifolds and could not locate the water drain for the exhaust manifolds/risers. There is a hose coming from the T-Stat housing to the front of the manifold. On the opposite side of the header is a rubber cap. No drain plug to be found. I pulled the rubber cap off of each manifold and let the water drain, but was wondering if there was anything else I should be looking for? Volvo book specifies a drain valve, but mine seems to be missing the valve. Just wanted to make sure pulling the plug on the back side of the manifold is sufficient.
Thanks in advance!!
