A friend just purchased an '85 model boat with an AQ125B/270 drive. I noticed that the prop is opposite rotation froma Mercruiser. Is this normal?

Re: Volvo rotation

Doesn't matter if the prop is left or right rotation on the 270, the gearbox rotation (selecting forward or reverse) is easily changed (takes about 2 minutes). This allows for counter rotation with dual engines. Smart people at volvo!

Also makes life a little easier when buying a new prop.

Aldo

Re: Volvo rotation

Just struck me as odd that a single engine boat would counter rotate... Oh well, the shift/throttle lever is shot, so I'll need to help him locate one of those.

Re: Volvo rotation

Did you ever notice that Merc’s pull on the steering wheel in one way when you get going. Well my 270 will do that if I use a right hand prop. If I use a left it is like power steering. (single motor) 360 Chrysler Volvo 270
