Volvo reverse lock

I am having an intermittent problem with my reverse lock on my out drive. I first put her in the water, the drive will not lock down. After about a half an hour, the drive will lock. I am starting to think that the springs are starting to become weak. Where can I find replacement springs for a 285 outdrive? Are there any other items in this setup that can cause this?

It's not usually the springs, but the paws that catch the cross pin when they get rounded over a little they will not hold. Note I said usually, could also be the adjustment, or the springs. Just be sure to check those paws.<br />Any Volvo Penta dealer can get you the parts.
