volvo raw water pump housing removal

I'm trying to remove my raw water pump housing in my volvo 290a. Its in a tight spot and I can't see how its fastened in there. I got the one bolt out of the bottom of it.

I'm trying to get to my balancer bolt so I can turn the engine over.

do you have to take out the snap ring inside the housing that is on the shaft for the impeller wheel?

Aren't there just three bolts screwed into the Harm. Balancer? Is it an AQ290, SBC?

If so I can usually rotate my engine with a large screw driver between the circulation pump pully bolts.

What are you trying to accomplish?

That is not a good idea, Best thing to do is remove all the spark plugs. Tighten the alternator belt and use a wrench on the alternator pulley nut.

Yes its a 290A


I need to get it at TDC #1 to put my distributor in.

Best thing to do is remove all the spark plugs. Tighten the alternator belt and use a wrench on the alternator pulley nut.

I thought about that, but it looked too tight of a fit I guess I didn't actually try it though.

officially not going to work with the alternator. I have to get the water pump housing off. somehow...

Whats the problem, is the motor down low in the bilge?

just remove the 3 allen bolts on the front of the balancer, and gently pry on the back of the v-belt pulley with a couple of screwdrivers and it will pop off.
