volvo question

Hi All,
Newbie here. I'm looking at a 83 Trophy with a volvo 4cylinder and a 270 outdrive. I currently have a 87 bayliner capri with a 305 v8 and a 275 volvo outdrive. I want to put the 305 in the Trophy. Has anyone done this? I know there will be some motor mount fab work to be done. My question is what is compatibly between the too units and what needs to be done to make the swap. Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Sounds like you've got a project on your hands.

I've never done a swap like that but here are issues that come to mind.

Ya, the motor mounts will need to change.

You will most likely have to swap the entire setup over, including the transum shield unless the 270 has a two exhaust releif port transum shield. In which case it may work.

Besides that I believe your good to go.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Search the threads, One guy DDAADDYY, swapped a 4 cylinder for a V8.

Thanks for the welcome Captmellow.

From what Im learning I need to swap the hole thing over. I hate to see the capri go but I need a little more boat and I am going to get the trophy for a steel It just needs repowered. o well looks like some volvo parts for sale in the near future
