Volvo Prop nut?

I have a Volvo SX outdrive and need to pick up a prop wrench, can someone tell me what size the nut is? I'm not a boater so I don't know what to ask for(size). the other question I have is why can't I use a socket? it looks like about 1 1/8 or something close to it. and why is the book telling me to only use this so called prop wrench?

Not sure what "Book" you read that in, but the OEM owners manual says to use a 1-1/16" wrench. Personally, I use a socket.

your better off getting a cheapie breaker bar and socket from sears along with a small piece of 2x4. Those plastic prop wrenches you see all over the place are junk
