Volvo Penta won't start

i have a 2000 monterey Montura with a 5.7 chevy with SX out drive. I just brought the boat and was told the owner didn't use it much. Thmostate was frozen open Changed it. With ears on engine came up to normal temp. lunched shallow water, with the out drive slightly raised felt like i hit bottom as i hit the channel i excelerated about a min looked down temp gauge reading 240 shut engine down checked prop for mud or weeds clean. engine failed to turn over attemped to jump with another boat still only turned over slightly towed boat home attemped to charge batterys they peg the meter for about 10 mins and than fail to take further charging i.m taking the batterys to the dealor now one was new in jan. i now have a smal stream of water coming out of the fround of the water pump/ I.m changing that tomorrow. i have worked on a lot of cars but not much on boats. no kill swich found is there a reset / thanks for all the help gator 61

You've got to give more info about your motor and problem.:confused:

Sounds like you may have hydro locked. Pull the plugs and try turning it over. See if you get water out. If so, replace the plugs and try starting again. If it starts, let it run a couple minutes to dry out, always run on muffs!!

Let us know and we'll go from there. 240 is pretty hot.
