Hi all,
I'm new here so I hope this is the correct spot to ask this question.
I have a 2002 Four Winns 260 Horizon with a 320 HP GXI, Volvo Penta outdrive.
2 part question on the trim.
The outdrive bangs if I try to reverse with it even slightly in the up position. Also the outdrive falls down underway at speeds over 10 mph and will not lift while underway at speeds over 10. There's plenty of fluid in the reservoir when the drive is in the down position. So is there a check valve or something that holds under moderate pressure but not under higher pressure? That would seem to explain both problems.
The other issue I have is if I leave the boat for about 2 days the up relay burns out. If I take it out after each use, then put it back there's no problem. Any thoughts? I'm going to install a batter cut off switch to everything but the bilge pump, but I would like to know what may be causing this.
Thank you in advance.
