Volvo Penta SX outdrive 2001 - Replace O rings

Should I change the two O'rings that engage the gimbal bearing during the annual service? On a VP SX outdrive year 2001. In the past I have just lubricated them with oil.<br /><br />Regards<br /><br />Chris

yes, those orings are the actual contact point between the bearing ID and the shaft. it you machined the shaft and bearing ID so the shaft fit the bearing tight enought to drive the bearing any rust or scale would make it a permanant assy. thats the purpose of the orings.
