Looking to buying my first volvo penta (99 Four Winns) after years with a Mercruiser. Going to fire it up pre-sale and need to do a quick drain job as we might still get a light freeze in IL. Trying to learn from prior posts. From reviewing posts it looks like there are 2 block drain plugs and 2 manifold drain plugs? Also, any idea what the oil capacity is with oil filter? How cool, no water pump in the outdrive!

Hmmm, is there a good description somewhere of where some of these drain points are? I have the exact same (different year) engine package.

I've found the two block drains, and I know about the hoses at the circulating pump.

But, I've not found any drains for the manifolds, either exhaust or intake.

Can someone describe where I should be looking for these?

Thanks,

johnbo

Thanks Don,

That is a much better description than what came in the boat's original manuals (from SeaSwirl). Thanks for the pointer.

Later,

johnbo

Thanks for most valuable link the Don, pretty much the same as the 4.3 Mercruiser, as I expected.
