I am planning to remove a dead old Penta outdrive and engine (350 cobra ?) from my houseboat. This is being replaced by an outboard so no concern on precision engineering.
If anyone has any basic knowledge or plans sketches to guide me thro any issues I might have I would greatly appreciate it. I see the engine looks simple enough, just 2 floor mounts and the water hoses once it's out of the water.
My plan is to cut out the outdrive from the Transom (glassing this up afterwards), and I see about 6 nuts holding the gear box to the engine. Is this where I would split it ? Are there any pins etc that will cause me a problem ?
Any advice appreciated, remember this thing is going to the scrap heap afterwards.
Thanks
Alan

Re: Volvo Penta removal + Engine

hello
easist way to do that will be to ask a local tech to trade. he pulls it and all of it is his. you did not post enough info for us to tell you. volvo never made a cobra. the made the cobra/sx as a joint venture with OMC the the SX. in 96 Volvo bought OMC about 95.
if it were me I would ask a tech to pull it and dispose of the parts.
good luck and keep posting
