Have a 3.0 leter Volvo Penta on a 17" Glastron. Prop is a little beat up and am thinking of getting it reworked. I am also being offered a Stainless prop from a dealer for $200. This prop that I have now which is the original aluminum prop is 14 1/4x19. The stainless prop is 14 1/2x19. Would that be a suitable replacement? I think that I may lose a few rpm, probably less than 50. Also is $200. for a new stainless prop a good price?

Thanks, D.

Re: Volvo Penta Prop

Depends on where you are now re: WOT recommended RPM's. You need to be near the top figure, then it should work.

Sounds like a good price, but what is it?

You "may" lose a 100RPM just going to SS in the same style blade design, and then again, if the SS has more lift, you may stay the same RPM but gain a mph or 2.
