Volvo penta Problems!!!!

First hello everyone! Sorry to make my first post a question but....
I have an 04 glastron SX195 with a 5.0GL motor and volvo penta outdrive.
First problem is it was overheating bad last season at the end and would cool down at idle and just putt fine. If i wanted to go 30mph cruise it would last like 2 min then overheat. I felt the motor and it didnt feel suer hot,but IDK the temp. Is it the impeller or i have been reading on here about bad temp sensors??

Another MAJOR problem i may have is a crack. Boat was winterized,but sat outside for 3 winters. pics

No oil cam out of the crack. What do i do about this? HELP!

That's an odd place for a crack and I doubt it was done from freezing. Where is the lower part of the drive? Happen to get hit because that top crack looks more like some sort of impact damage?

I agree that crack looks like impact damage.

When was your impeller last replaced? What you describe sounds very much like a bad impeller. Impellers should be replaced every other year. Use causes wear and non use causes them to get hard and take a set in the blades. Either case not good.

The boat has never hit anything.... the lower part is off because i was going to take it all apart to see how deep the crack went. As for the impeller i'm on # 3 in less than 100hrs run time. I got the boat brand new in 04 and it has been nothing,but problems. I do love it though lol.

You can just pull the drive and see that. Have you pulled the drive before? I can't remember if there is a pocket back there that can hold water or not.

never worked on a boat b4. I took off the lower part so it wouldnt weigh so much lol. from pics i found on the net it looks like this is just a pocket?

Hmmm...then I would agree that it could be just freeze damage.

Too bad you took the lower off. It is very managable to take the whole drive off in one package. You should be pulling the drive annually to check the u-joints, gimbal bearing and alignment so go ahead and take it off and do those things.

You know how to fill the drive with lube right?

what stoped me was wondering if there are some seals in there? I need to find a place to get parts for her. I need an impeller and the seals that go with it. I now also need gear oil and learn how to put it in lol.

When you buy the impeller, it comes with the seals and or gaskets you need to replace. When you replace the lube, you need to replace all the gaskets on all the plugs. Not sure what seals you now need to put the two halves of the drive back together.

the drive had 0-ring seals that were and are in great shape IMO. I will pick them up if need be,but i have already re-installed the lower part. If i just had a place local that had all my parts i would be ALLOT less scared to dig in deeper. When ordering parts do i ask for volvo penta parts for the outside and 5.0 GL parts for the inside(motor) or is it all considered volvo parts?

Good looking boat. Bad head gaskets usually show themselves as an overheat condition above 3000rpm. Hopefully its just the impellor pump.
