Hi my name is Bob ,can anyone tell me what the second hole in the very bottom housing next to the gear oil drain plug is for ? As I was winterizing the unit I saw lots of anti freeze coming out of this hole so I pushed my finger on the hole so not to waste the antifreeze as it looked like it was just pouring out freely like it was a by-pass or something of the sort. I didnt see the hole I just felt it.Its a light blue volvo penta 280 outdrive , Im not sure of the year I think its a 1985 . Thanks , hope someone can help. Bob

I believe the hole you're talking about is just a sea water drain hole. Im no VP expert, but if im wrong im sure one of the gurus will correct me.

That would be normal for it to exit that hole. That's the same hole you need to plug when you run the drives on the muffs.

Hey thanks for the feedback bruceb58 and mattb1974 your answers are just what I wanted to hear and its what I thought , but I wanted a second and third opinion. Thanks again . Bob . Oh I almost forgot , after plugging it to run antifreeze through should I take the plug back out and let it drain or leave it in to hold antifreeze ? My answer could be both . as antifreeze wouldnt hurt to leave it in on the other hand air wont freeze either if I let the antifreeze run out. Thanks
