1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.-
Heavy list to starboard once on plane-Trim tabs would take an act of congress on this boat as it is a very difficult and cut up transom.

2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless and as a minimum.
Volvo penta prop, long hub aluminum 3-blade,

3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
15X19LH

4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
4600rpm@45mph

5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
Volvo penta 225e/275a(1.61:1), 1988, 225HP

6) Boat make model, year, length and weight
1988 Imperial 2200XL, 22', 2800 DRY

New to me boat this year. Love the boat however I have a few handling issues. The boat lists hard to starboard once I am up on plane. It did have a pull to it also but I was able to dial that out at cruising speed with the exhaust port. I considered trim tabs but it is a very cut up transom and next to impossible for the tabs. Will changing the rotation to right hand help this issue. I am 220 and when I am on starboard driving the list is significant. If I while driving I move as far as I can to the middle of the boat and still steer it levels out noticeably Would changing the prop rotation help this situation? From what I have read it seems ok to change the 275 to rh rotation and the outdrive stand up to it. Is this correct? What other issues are affected by changing the rotation? The max rpms called for is 4400 and I am at 4550-4600 with this prop, do I go up 2" pitch and settle for 4200 instead of over revving? Thank you...absolutely love this forum as it has been alot of help and saved me alot of marine mechanic money.

I would try the rotation change I would think it would solve it.you'll probably have to go back and adjust the prop torque issue for a rh prop.
If your changing props now is the time to address any other issues.hole shot,
planing speed at less power, more top end etc.

Re: volvo penta handling

Is the rotation change as simple as taking the shift cover off and changing the side the control rod is on? I am pretty happy with the 19 pitch prop. Is the 4600 rpm a little much for the mfg recommended range of 4400 rpm though? Would it suit the engine better to go up 2 inches? Planing speed at less pwer would be a reduction in pitch? Top end speed is fine and if I lose some it is no big deal. I just want the boat to ride level and with in the mfg range. I am more concerned with lower end as I play with tubes and skis alot though. What about a 4-blade? I see they make the 14-1/4 X 19, is this the equivalent of the 15 X 19 three blade?

If that is one of those bolt on fin things you could try removing it and see if it helps. A friend had awful handling on a boat he purchased which had something similar fitted, removed and all was perfect.

Does the same thing with or without. I even tried taking only the port one off to help bring up the starboard but to no avail.

I'm not sure on the Volvo I believe it is pretty simple. If you post in the I/O section you should find help.If youre worried about the rpm and would like better low to medium performance the 19" 4 blade is for you. It will get the boat up quicker stay on plane with less power run smoother, give better dock manuvering control.
and put you close to the 4,400 your looking for. The Solas Amita appears to give very predictable results.
