trying to get the shaft out so I can replace the Gimble bearing on a 275 outdrive.. I had heard that the shaft should be threaded to use a slide hammer, and there are no threads... Does anyone have an idea to remove the shaft?
Thanks
David

It would be nice if the shafts were threaded, but none of them ever were. It's also not a gimbal bearing, it's just a simple ball bearing and knows as a primary driveshaft bearing.
The next problem is, the primary drive shaft housing is not a drive part, and can have either one or two bearings depending on the engine. So not the question is, what engine do you have?
