Volvo Penta fuel problem

I have a 97 Volvo Penta 7.4 ltr that isn't getting any fuel. I have found that the fuel pump isn't getting powered up when the ignition is turned on. The boat will turn over but no fuel getting out of the pump. There is a relay attached to the pump. It has power going into it from the hot lead but nothing coming from the switched lead. I can't find where the switched leads are coming from(beneath the engine somewhere). Could a starter solenoid cause the switch lead to not activate? I am at a lose. Thanks for what ever help can be supplied. Rodney

Carbed or fuel injected?
What is the model number. Should be 7.4GXXXXX with the X's being the model number..... or should I say letters. They will not be numbers, where I have X's, you will find letters.

It is carburated. I think the model number is 744glkpd. I think that is what I saw on it.

Re: Volvo Penta fuel problem

You have a 7.4GL Which indicates a carbed engine and it's a year/model LK. The LK model is what you need when ordering parts.

Check your relay wiring. Locate the terminal on the fuel pump relay plug that has both a orange and a green wire going to it, see if you have power to that terminal while the engine is cranking.
