HI all, I'm new to the forum but like the idea. I have a 97 Glastron 195 w/5.8 Volvo Penta sx. While operating under load, 2500-3000 RPM's the engine will hesitate or miss. Somtimes it dies altogether, but it will start right back up. It never dies it at idle. I have checked/changed fuel filter/water separtor. No signs of water! After it quitting under medium throttle the engine was hydrauliced. I removed plugs, change oil, etc. I replace the coil and then ran engine under load, 2500 RPM's (on trailor) for approx 20 minutes - no problem. I then ran the boat another 10-15 minutes in close proximity of the dock - no problem. The next time out, you guessed it, after about 20-30 minutes it began hesitating, or missing. I did make it back. I have ran the boat approx 30 minutes, under load (2500 RPM's) on trailer but it will not repeat the problem. I notice coil voltage is approx 2 volts lower then battery voltage. I replace solinoid/switch but new one does the same. It appears to have built in resistance. Battery volts is about 13.5 with engine running, but coil voltage will vary from 10.5 to 12. I never noticed the voltage doing this before and I watch gages closely. I think it may be connected but I don't know for sure. Beside that the missing/hesitating is a problem, I am afraid I will be stranded again. Any help will be appreciated.
