I recently bought a 2002 Cobolt with a 5.7 L Volvo Penta and DP-SM Dual Prop stern drive. The Volvo Penta manual says the front prop removal tool is P/N 3855876-3 . A tool with this part number is not found when I do an internet search. A lot of web sites sell a Volvo Penta dual prop wrench P/N 3855516 for the ?D & F series?. Will this wrench work for the DP-SM Dual Prop:confused:

Thanks

Ed

Re: Volvo Penta Dual Prop (DP-SM) Wrench

Thanks for the quick response Don you are a real pro!!! The picture of the heavy duty wrench doesn't show it but I suspect it has a 3/8" or 1/2" drive on the end to allow the proper touque to be applied? The lite duty wrench does not. Is that a problem?

Thanks again,

Ed

You can borrow the one I just bought if you live in the North Texas area.....

It has a 1/2" square drive on it. I don't waste time torquing with a torque wrench. I just tighten them down tight.
Just make sure you remove the props clean and regrease the splines yearly. You do not want them stuck on the splines, and it will happen if you don't put grease on them.. Don't even think about using never seize, that's a sure way to seize them on.
