So, this boat is new to me and I have never ran it in the driveway before. I have a 1990 570A coupled to a DP-A1 outdrive. I just had the outdrive off and changed the bellows, greased u joints, painted, etc.

So I ran this thing today on the hose and was suprised to see almost all of the cooling water was coming out of two holes (covered by rubber flap) in the transom piece. Hadnt noticed these guys before and expected the water to come out of the drive lower unit....

Is this normal?

Thanks!

Yes, it's normal. They are called idle reliefs.

Thanks Don. At higher rpm, does this close and water comes out the lower unit? Just curious how it all works.

Ayuh,... It's Water,+ Exhaust,... It follows the path of Least resistence...
