Volvo Penta D4 corroded sump

My Volvo Penta D4-260A-A with 130 running hours has developed a major oil leak (I have recovered approx 10 litres of engine oil from the bilge. The engine sump is heavily corroded and I suspect this is the source of the leak. There is no evidence of oil anywhere else on the engine. The oil even leaks when the engine is not running and the oil is cold.
My bilge pump is operational but is not sited at the lowest point, near the transom, where there has been standing water and thus the corrosion. I have only had the boat six weeks and, although it is 5 years old, has had little use by the previous owner. I suspect the transom end of the sump has been sat in water for a long time.
I am now faced with replacing the sump and wonder, first of all, if this can be done in situ? (I have approx. 4" bottom clearance) and if not, is it possible to remove the engine without removing the drive leg? (a Volvo DPH-A)
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
