I have a two year old Seaswirl 2901 with Duel Volvo Penta D4-210 DPH stern drives. The boat sits in the water year round and it sat for about 4 month without engaging the props. I recently noticed that the Port drive would not engage when put into gear (forward or reverse) and when I increase the RPM,s the engine would shut down and the alarm would come on. Engines run perfectly, oil pressure and temperature are within range. Can anybody give me a clue what is going on???

Try disconnecting the shift actuator cable. Then see if the actuator is actually moving. If it goes full stroke, see if you can manually move the shift cable to forward/reverse.
