Ok so I have a 74 glastron starflite with the volvo penta Aq130c meshed up with a 270 outdrive...I have been having issues with the boat planing...it wont...ever since i bought it...in neutral i have full rpms up to 5500 (which is wot) in gear i cant get past 2800...so i decided to do a comp check and it came back 2 cylinders at 140, 1 at 150, and the 4th at 160...so my question is...is this an acceptable psi for an older motor?

Re: Volvo Penta Compression Question

Compression isn't fantastic but should still be able to reach WOT under load. Reving in neutral doesn't really tell you anything. Here's a link to a good list of possible causes: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=295070. Since you haven't been able to get up to speed since you bought the boat, you can pretty much start anywhere since you really need to verify the condition of everything.
