Volvo Penta cold weather usage

I have an '86 Volvo Penta AQ131A in my fishing boat. I would like to fish late into the fall but am worried about freezing night temps causing damage. Can I just loosen the two drain cocks after a day of fishing? I'd rather not do a complete winterization until after the fall fishing season. Thanks in advance.

You have to drain the complete raw water system, not sure that your 2 drain cocks will cover all of it. All those copper tubes, the raw water pump, the heat exchanger (raw water side) and the exhaust manifold all have to be drained.
And don't expect those drain cocks to work. The get plugged quite often. Remove the complete drain and make sure the hole is clear by probing it with a wire or something.
