Volvo Penta 5.7 Sometimes Halts at 2500 RPM

I'm not a mechanic and they are hard to find right now, but maybe there are some things I can do to investigate an issue I'm having? About 80% of the time, my Larson with 5.7 Volvo Penta starts and operates normally. However, sometimes it will accelerate normally up until it hits 2500 RPM, then nothing. It doesn't stall out just stops accelerating no matter how much throttle I give it and obviously won't get on plane. Just yesterday I started it 4 times and drove it around without issue. The 5th time, it halted at 2500 RPM. Gas was just filled up yesterday, happened before and after new gas. Any ideas? Thanks.

Serial number please so proper information can be provided. If fuel injected, it might be entering protective mode and alarming (if equipped). Suggest not running it further until the issue is understood. If fuel injected, what causes this is low oil pressure and/or high engine and/or high exhaust temperature. These will be detailed in your manual. Serial number is needed.

Serial is 4012148135.
No Alarm goes off, not sure if its equipped, but there is an alarm that sounds when I turn the ignition prior to starting it each time, whether I have the limping issue or not.

Just for kicks, has the water pump impeller been serviced or inspected?
Low water pressure will sometime cause what you are describing.

I’ll look the serial number up later. How many beeps when the ignition is turned, or is it a solid tone? Since you have this, this is the same “horn/speaker” for alarms (technically a piezo buzzer).

Edit. 5.7GXi-F. So, multiport fuel injection. A great motor.

Just for kicks, has the water pump impeller been serviced or inspected?
Low water pressure will sometime cause what you are describing.
Impeller changed two years ago, but we do spend time in shallow water so maybe I should do check that.
