Hey all. First thanks in advance for the help on this. Did some searching but didn't find all the answers I am looking for....I currently own a 99' Cruisers 2870 with dual 5.0GL's. The marina that stores my boat launched it the other day and the trim was fine. When I went to move the boat to my slip, I found that the starboard trim switch would not move the outdrive up or down unless you hold in the trailer switch at the base of the throttle control in which case it moves up and down full range. In addition, the trim indicator gauge is not functioning at all. The port trim is fine. I am trying to troubleshoot this problem and checked a few things. I swapped the port and strbd relays and that didn't help. I reseated all the wire harnesses I could find pertaining to the trim and the fuses are good as well. There are led lights at the back of engine bay for trim low and trim high that light up when the trim switch is moved up or down, but the pump does not engage unless the trailer switch is depressed. The pump is not the problem since it works with the trailer switch as does the trim switch on the throttle. Seems like a permissive of some type locking out the trim unless bypassed by the trailer switch. I am wondering if this is a trim sender issue and or trim limiter problem. To be honest I am not sure if I have a limiter or where it would be located if I do. Also, if this is a sender/limiter issue is there a way to temporarily bypass it so I don't have to use the trailer switch? I understand that to repair a sender I would have to pull my boat out of the water again and I REALLY do not want to have to do that. I am fine with trimming "by the seat of my pants" (so to speak) until the next time the boat is out of the water. What is really frustrating is that the trim was working fine the other day, sat in a transient slip for a few days and during that time something apparently went bad. I've seen quite few posts regarding merc trim problems and workarounds but very little on the pentas. Any help is appreciated.
