HI guys, i am a newbie here but have been getting so much help from past threads to my 5.0gi.

The one issue i still have is engine identification, my local Volvo dealer (in the UK) doesnt seem to recognise the serial numbers/markings.

Im hoping you guys might be able to identify.

Prod No 3862057
Type LB 5.0L TBI
SER NO 4990004550

I hope that helps.

welcome aboard

3862057 is the volvo part for a base engine

use the volvo serial number tag (should be just above the starter). the 4990004550 is most likely the GM block serial number. not the volvo penta serial number

However there is not much of a variation on the GI motors.

Thanks Scott.

I will take a look for the serial number tag.

Also I tried to take a look at the timing procedure sticky and it takes me to a thread about Johnstone outboards, is there another link please. Is it also a given than all Gi motors run 29psi on the high side of the fuel pressure?

some of the sticky links got broken a few years back when the forum changed software.

I would get a copy of the factory service manual for your boats motor, drive, and EFI. https://www.volvopenta.com/en-us/your-engine/manuals-and-handbooks/

here is the fuel pressures
