Morning, I can’t for the life of me thing of the name or part I need. Tits the rubber gasket that goes on prop when you hit the ground to avoid breaking your prop. When I hit the gas it mostly just revvs and doesn’t go anywhere.

Boat is a 1999 Chris Craft 190 Volvo penta 4.3Gi

Either the prop hub has spun (broke loose) or the engine coupler has.

Use a marker or grease pencil and draw a line from the center of the prop to outer edge. Run it in the water and then check if mark has changed

If you smell burnt rubber in the boat it's the coupler

Are you sure the drive is going in gear? As does it go in reverse and slip same as forward?

Thanks for reply, yes I had the boat running on water at about 10 mph and couldn’t go any faster as it felt like it was just spinning and not grabbing the drive. Trying to figure out the part name so I can replace it.

That’s the part to remove the unit I need the part name for the gasket that wears down so I can’t get power. Like when a clutch wears on a car and just devs

For a visual on what AD is referring to, here is what the prop hub is about (link) and here is what the motor coupler is about (link). These are a representation but as you can see, hopefully it’s the prop hub that is the issue.

More: in looking closely at your pics I did not see an indication of a cotter pin in your prop nut keeper > this is the stamped metal device over the nut that is used to keep it from loosening > but it needs a cotter pin.

Assuming it is the prop hub, make sure you have all the needed components > they make kits like shown in the video to replace these items. Your local marina will be a great resource for the items needed. And follow the instructions for torquing the prop nut. If you do not have a torque wrench, buy one. Here is one that is inexpensive and will work link. Get the proper size socket at the same time.

Also, you did not say if there was an event that caused this issue, an event like running aground with the prop. If so, checking the runout of the prop shaft and / or doing a pressure test on the sterndrive may be in order.

Continue to post any / all questions and help needed and good luck!
