I have a regal 2765 with 4.3 efi Volvo Penta's with sx outdrives 2004 when i last took the boat out it was running fine i hit something and broke 1 skeg off which made me open the engine compartment to make sure evrything was ok down there i dont think breaking the tip of the skeg has anything to do with this problem it just made me look closer in the engine compartment . and i noticed that one engine is a lot louder than the other it runs fine has oil pressure in the 40s at idle and up to 80 when moving fast i dident wreck the prop so i dont think i bent anything i would just like an idea what you think i should check as far as the sound.

The video doesn't work, says it's being processed.

Check the exhaust bellows, if it's torn it will make the engine louder.

I would pull the drive and see what is rattling around. If you hit hard enough to break the skeg I would be surprised if there wasn't some other kind of damage.

Can't you get down by the engine some and listen and see where the sounds is coming from? I know that is what I would do. I would also use a mechanics stethoscope to pinpoint the noise. The probe on it makes it easy to find the loudest area of a knock.

Can't you get down by the engine some and listen and see where the sounds is coming from? I know that is what I would do. I would also use a mechanics stethoscope to pinpoint the noise. The probe on it makes it easy to find the loudest area of a knock.

I'm in Orlando boat is in the keys I'm heading down Saturday to troubleshoot it stethoscope in hand also thought I would run it with the belt off for a minute or so and see if its quieter as then it's a pulley water pump or the impeller pump - it shouldn't hurt to run it for just a minute should it?

You have some bad internal's...dam shame that's a nice boat. Place the scope on the front of the heads it will be immediate if you have engine problem's.

I thought I give a follow up on this thread. So three weeks ago I went to the keys to figure out what the problem lies and with the mechanics stethoscope listen all over the engine and determined that noise was not coming from the engine when I put the stethoscope on the back where the outdrive hooks it was loud as can be but I did not have the proper tools with me to pull the drive on that trip. I went back to the keys this past weekend and pulled the drive immediately noticed that what was the gimbal bearing I had brought with me and knew gimbal bearing and ujoints just in case. The Bellows had a small tear and allow water in which killed the bearing I replaced it -And I'm fairly certain that it's all better unfortunately I did not get to drive it because the boat ramp and the keys requires two people to get the boat out you have to push it out with the boat and I was by Myself for the weekend.
I'm going to attach a video of "bearing which may help somebody in the future

And look for water! and gear oil (input shaft seal)!
get yourself one of these and make it real easy...

I am making one of these right now that is very similar to the one you have. Will post pictures when i am done.
