Very sensitive throttle or speed control lever, the smallest movement causes a huge change in power, I checked all the hook ups and I was wondering how to get less throttle movement vs lever movement. Any Thoughts??

I should be able to go from idle to say 1500 rpm and not from idle instantly to 2000 rpm, and when slowing down I should be able to go from around 3000 rpm to 2500 and not to 1500 suddenly.

What can I do???

I don't know How your Volvo is set up,....

But both at the Carb,+ In the controller,.... There's Usually multiple Holes in the actuator arm,.....
Move the Attachment point Out, away from center on the Carb, or Closer to the center on the Controller.......

This will effectively reduce the Ratio of movement.......

Re: Volvo Penta 3.0

That makes perfect sense to me.
I looked at the carb and there is only one hole the linkage can attach to, the speed lever I cannot tell what is there unless I pull it from the sidewall. How do it do that, it only has one screw at the fwd end?

Re: Volvo Penta 3.0

Does anyone have a drawing or a picture of the backside linkage connection of a Volvo Penta side mounted speed control lever with a trim tab switch???

I want to adjust the linkage as Bond-O suggested but I cannot see behind mine and I cannot figure how to remove it from the wall.

I need help to fix this touchy throttle

Have no clue as to what control you have or even what year it may be.
Got a picture?

Re: Volvo Penta 3.0

The year is 2000, it's a 3.0 engine the shifter is all black with a trim switch in the handle and one flat head screw is in the base forward that does nothing when removed. The motor has 130 hours on it according to the hobbs hour meter.
I am thinking to pour a couple cans of Seafoam in the gas tank, A 7 year old Motor with only 130 hours could mean some crud or what not in the fuel system.
My clymer manual tells me it is a holly 2 barrel carb with 2 idle adjustment screws. All I can say is that it is black, has no adjustment screws other then an idle speed screw, and looks brand new, as does the motor itself.
