Volvo Penta 3.0 starts but dies after a few seconds

Currently having problems with Volvo Penta 3.0 starting, but then dying after just a few seconds. This happens over and over until finally (last time after ~25 starts) the engine will start and run fine, and will re-start when shut off. This has been repeated a few times over the past 3-4 days. Tank is full, seems to be getting gas at carb. Any ideas?

Clogged carburetor intake screen did that to me. It will get enough to fill the carb and start, but not enough to run. Maybe restricted fuel filter, dip tube, fuel line, weak pump.
