Volvo outdrive sags slowly

I have a 1994 Volvo SX outdive that when raised slowly sags (about a half hour) . The rams look good with no leaks, and the raise and lower fuctions seem fine. To troubleshoot this, are all the check valves in the trim pump unit? Or are there check valves , or seals leaking in the rams that would also cause this. Not sure where to start looking first. My C D manual is vague on trim troubleshooting. Any tips what to check first? I just bought the boat, maybe I should replace the fluid, as I really don't know if it's the right stuff.
Thanks Dave-R

You could check the fluid level to make sure it is full, or you could try replacing the fluid with new stuff. But most likely you will have to rebuild the pump and replace the seals.

There are check valves in the pump and I would suspect that . Don S posted lots of factory manuals here and the factory manuals have a really good trim system troubleshooting section if I recall right.
