Volvo Outdrive noise

I have a 1989 runabout with the Volvo AQ131. Yesterday I winterized the boat and was almost done when I started to hear a knocking in the outdrive. I had it hooked up to the water muffler so I put it in drive & the prop turned OK but the banging/knocking continued. Any ideas????? Thanks.

Was the drive up, if so it could be the u-joints...
